Artist Profile: Emma Pyrah
Designer and illustrator, Emma Pyrah has creates fun and unique illustrated products, using a range of media and techniques. As well as her own collection being sold through her online shop and other retail outlets Emma also works on illustration and pattern design commissions and is always looking for her next challenge.
Since graduating from Nottingham Trent University with a degree in Decorative Arts she has continued to produce her new contemporary collection of illustrated textiles including a fun selection of brightly coloured fruit, vegetables, and food packets made into oversized cushions for the home. Emma creates line drawings over watercolour painting, prints them onto textiles and constructs 3D embroidered textiles to create various unique effects.
In addition to her handrawn illustrations, Emma’s range of fun, quirky collages include her original range of ‘1950’s Housewives dressed in Food Clothes’ and most recently the nostalgic ‘Bake me Cake’ series.
Over the last five years Emma has also developed an abstract yet original style of painting. Much of her inspiration for expressive use of bold colour and shape is derived from her travels around California, Southern Italy and the British countryside.
Emma’s work has a wide skill base and varies in media and subject. Her cheerful mix of colours and contemporary feel mean there is something to make everyone smile.
